The Green Watcher share its experience at the Green Day Venice
At the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, spotlights aim to the "green" side of the cinema with the "Green Day Venice - How is the film industry is taking on climate change?". A day dedicated to sustainability in the film industry that took place at Monday, Semptember 7.
Green Day Venice started with the promotion of the campaign Film4Climate, Connect4Climate - World Bank Group initiative. The main goals are to highlight the cinema role can play in focusing attention on environmental issues and shifts in thinking on a massive worldwide scale and to make ecostainable the procedure of cinema industry uniform, creating guidelines that can be share and apply worldwide. The day was opened by italian actress Claudia Gerini, friend and ambassador of Green Cross Italy, who wanted to bring his message to the promotion of a cinema more and more sustainable.
Star of the event was Alfonso Cuaròn, Oscar-winning director and this year's President of the Jury at the Venice International Film Festival, who discussed on environmental issues with his brother Alfredo, quoted ecologist and climate expert.
"Put the energy-efficient light bulbs is a simple and common sense action. It 's a matter of principle but not something of which we should congratulate ourselves. The issue is much broader: we must completely change the global economic model" , said the director. "We need to create a great synergy between science and art to break the walls that impede our progress," said the biologist Alfredo Cuaron.
There are several procedurals that aim to bring the attention to the correct and conscious energy, minimazing the environmental impact of the movies. For this reason,the Italian Ministy of Culture has been called to define a common criteria for the sustainable production of films and provide subsidies to all productions that will choose to follow this protocol.
The production's sustainability goes from the choice of catering with biodegradable dishes to satisfy the energy needs of the film with a temporary connection to the mains. The content of the film is important: good practices and green actions can sensitize viewers to environmentally sustainable behavior.
