SwitchMed Connect: an opportunity to debate on eco-sustainability future

The GreenWatcher will share its history, its skills and experiences on sustainability on 29 and 30 October at the SwitchMed Connect in Barcelona.
SwitchMed Connect 2015 is the first annual gathering of Mediterranean stakeholders to build synergies, exchange knowledge, and scale up eco and social innovations. It will be an opportunity to share  stories, expertise and experience on eco&social innovations.

The GreenWatcher will take part as Switchers bringing its contribution in the meeting Experience and investigate eco & social innovations, which will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 am at the Centre de Cultura Contemporanea de Barcelona.

SwitchMed Connect asked us to explain our point of view about the challenges of ecotourism and pleasure services around eco-sustainability, and this is our answer. 

"As everything that concerns sustainable services, it's all about giving people simple and clear tools to manage, to understand and to choose it.
More and more people want to make sustainable tourism. Most of the times this means that people try to choose a sustainable accommodation searching among the ones that are ready for ecotourism. The eco-tourist has to search dozens of websites, each one usually showing just a few local entries, and try to get to the bottom of thousands of different eco-sustainability standards. This can be very frustrating and confusing, and brings people to give up choosing eco-sustainability. Also, eco-sustainability for tourism does not end with a green hotel. It features also pleasure services, shopping and eating. Once again, a single directory for consumers is missing and a unique eco-sustainability standard for companies too.

The GreenWatcher provides a single solution to the two-faced problem identified above. It is a user-friendly, widely available tool providing consumers with the information necessary to make informed decisions and SMEs with a low-cost marketing and self-assessment tool.
